A year ago today, Ninth Circuit court granted unmarried taxpayers double deduction limit on mortgage interest.
Single or Married taxpayers are limited to deducting the interest on $1 million of acquisition indebtedness plus $100,000 of home equity indebtedness, however unmarried taxpayers can each deduct the interest on a jointly owned property and thus get the double benefit.
